Passenger

Where are you?
Cuz you’re not here
give up your addiction
shed no more tears

I know that armor
That shield of that face
And you’re eyes tell me
You’re in a different place

The arteries are everywhere
Most everything’s connected
the poison pulses in you
And you remain infected

Where’s your cheeks?
the ones of ample color
Maybe they’ll return
when there’s another

My words are small
Like fireflies at night
when an old book
needs a little light

It doesn’t really matter
When you need the end
Just keep on driving
Up around this bend.
